Gateshead’s The Dental Practice has been sold, marking the end of a 27-year tenure under its previous owners. Established in 1993, the two-surgery, predominantly NHS dental clinic is located on a busy retail parade, surrounded by retail parks and major commercial businesses, providing a stable patient base.
Mark and Emma Benn, a husband-and-wife team, acquired the practice in 1999 and have now sold it to Dr. Jaz Ali, who also owns Crescent Dental Care in Gateshead. The sale was managed confidentially by Christie & Co, with senior business agent Cathy Murphy overseeing the transaction.
“When we bought the practice, it was small and not busy enough for both of us,” said the Benns. “Over the years, we expanded the clinic, adding a hygienist and growing our patient base. We decided to sell to improve our work-life balance and spend more time with family. We hope Jaz will continue to develop the practice, particularly the private side, while maintaining excellent NHS care.”

The sale price of The Dental Practice was not disclosed.
