Thanks to an innovative design, the iMatrix Clear Sectional Matrix System ensures consistent results, time savings, and less stress in every procedure
If you’ve ever struggled through a Class II restoration, you’re not alone—from achieving proper isolation, contacts, and contours to curing, finishing, and polishing, every step of the procedure presents a challenge. Thankfully, dentists looking to alleviate stress and save time can turn to Pac-Dent’s iMatrix Clear Sectional Matrix System: a start-to-finish solution that brings consistency and clinical confidence to even the most tedious Class II cases.
After a year of using iMatrix Clear in his Rhode Island practice, Joshua Grenier, DMD, can attest to several standout features. First up are the clear nickel-titanium matrix rings, which feature a unique undercut design that improves stability and visibility, while affording outstanding spring strength and memory. As Dr. Grenier found, iMatrix Clear rings offer excellent resilience, providing consistent tooth separation “over and over,” with no signs of wear.
Uniform Curing
Perhaps iMatrix Clear’s biggest advantage over traditional stainless-steel matrices is its signature clear Mylar components. Even when stacked, the bands, wedges, and rings allow ample light to pass through, ensuring complete, uniform curing. “Being able to cure through the matrix is huge,” Dr. Grenier said. “You can work faster and be confident that you’re going to get a better, stronger restoration.”
Unlike metal matrix bands, which often stick to restorative materials and can damage gingival tissues upon removal, Dr. Grenier reported that the iMatrix Clear’s Mylar bands are easy to remove and leave behind a smooth, almost “perfectly polished” composite surface. The system simplifies contact creation, too, with Dr. Grenier noting that it’s virtually “impossible” to end up with open contacts.
While iMatrix Clear bands are sturdy, their flexibility and pronounced marginal ridge make them ideal for maintaining correct anatomical form. “You can fold these bands over slightly to get a marginal ridge on your restoration that mirrors the adjacent tooth,” Dr. Grenier said, which helps minimize flash.
Simplicity from Start to Finish
The iMatrix Clear Sectional Matrix System Starter Kit includes a set of reusable polishers, perfect for delivering a high esthetic finish in 3 simple steps.
“I’ve used the iMatrix Clear polishers quite a bit on both posterior and anterior composites,” Dr. Grenier shared. “They don’t wear out and you don’t need a polishing paste—just rotate among the 3 types to go from quickly removing excess composite to a nice, glossy finish. It’s been a great product that I enjoy using and would absolutely recommend to any dentist doing posterior composites.”
