Affordable Dental Care Options Highlighted as Medicare Open Enrollment Begins

Open enrollment for Medicare began nationwide on October 15, giving New Jersey seniors the annual opportunity to review and adjust their coverage.

While many focus on medical and prescription plans, dental coverage often goes overlooked—a gap with serious health implications.

Medicare does not cover routine dental care, only hospital-based surgical procedures. Seniors without private coverage must either pay out-of-pocket or rely on supplemental plans, which are often limited in network and quality.

“To address this, we offer a dental discount plan that combines experienced care with affordability,” said Dr. Arash Vahid of AV Dental Associates. “Patients benefit from personalized treatment while maintaining oral health and a strong smile.”

Dental health is critical to overall wellness:

Only 29% of seniors have dental coverage.

One in five adults aged 65 or older have no natural teeth, with complete tooth loss doubling by age 75.

Maintaining 20 or more teeth at age 70 correlates with longer life expectancy.

Seventy percent of seniors over 65 have advanced periodontitis, linked to heart disease, Alzheimer’s, diabetes, and other conditions.

AV Dental Associates’ dental discount plan offers:

Two annual exams and cleanings at a fixed monthly cost.

Immediate benefits upon enrollment, with no waiting period.

A 20% discount on periodontal, restorative, endodontic, oral surgery, and orthodontic procedures.

Medicare open enrollment ends December 7, 2025. Seniors are encouraged to review their dental coverage during this period and consider alternatives like AV Dental’s plan to ensure affordable, high-quality dental care.
