AMD Lasers, Inc. (AMD) has released the Monet™ Laser Curing
Light, the world’s first handheld laser dental curing light, for faster and
reliable dental curing.
Light curing is an essential procedure in daily dental
practice. LED curing lights have been widely adopted into the dental practices
since their introduction in 2001. However, LED curing lights have certain
limitations, chief among them being an uncollimated light beam where light
intensity decreases dramatically from the emitting orifice, leading to
inefficient, inaccurate curing and heat, as well as other issues.
AMD Lasers has been leading the development of diode laser
systems in dentistry for over a decade. Leading the way has been the Picasso™
diode lasers which are widely used for daily dental procedures.
Building on diode laser technology and innovations in laser
modules, optics, mechanics, and electronics, the Monet Laser Curing Light
features:
- Curing 8mm depth of composite in three seconds
- 360˚ rotatable head
- Coherent collimated beam with a consistent diameter
of 12mm - Beam intensity does not decrease with distance
- A variety of aperture attachments for light
intensity attenuation and different beam size in 2mm, 4mm, 6mm for different
applications - Handheld and cordless operation
- Easy battery attachment for uninterrupted
operations - Convenient charging station with a light
intensity metre
“We invented the first commercial LED curing light 20 years
ago which have benefited dentistry greatly. We have considered all the key
requirements for a curing light and implemented these in the development. The
Monet laser curing light resolves critical issues that have existed in LED
curing lights. It is a revolutionary change for dental curing,” said Dr Densen
Cao, Ph.D., president of AMD. “The Monet Laser Curing Light will make dental
curing easier, faster, and better by providing fast and reliable curing.”
