Aspirus Pledges $500,000 to Expand Dental Services in Stevens Point

STEVENS POINT — The Aspirus Health Foundation has pledged $500,000 over three years to support the expansion of dental services at Noble Community Clinics in Stevens Point.

The funds will help equip 15 new dental operatories as part of Noble’s $18 million plan to expand its dental facility. The expansion aims to improve access to care for underserved residents in Portage County and nearby areas. These donor-restricted gifts are specifically managed by the Aspirus Health Foundation for oral health initiatives in the region.

“This investment reflects Aspirus Health’s commitment to improving access to essential health care services for all,” said Lanna Scannell, vice president of system philanthropy at Aspirus Health. “Through this partnership with Noble Community Clinics, we are honoring our donors’ intent and working together to ensure more families receive the dental care they need and deserve.”

The expansion is expected to more than double Noble’s dental care capacity. The clinic will be able to serve about 15,000 patients annually, with roughly 75% receiving dental services. Currently, around 80% of Noble’s dental patients are covered by Medicaid, while the rest are uninsured or underinsured.

“This investment from Aspirus Health Foundation is transformative for our region,” said Laura Waldvogel, CEO of Noble Community Clinics. “Access to dental care is one of the most significant unmet health needs in our community. This extraordinary gift directly supports our mission to care for those who face the greatest barriers to oral health.”

The expanded facility will feature 21 treatment rooms, imaging and sterilization areas, as well as specialized operatories for pediatric and special needs patients. The design focuses on improving patient flow and overall experience. Noble provides preventive, restorative, and emergency dental care, which helps reduce emergency room visits by addressing dental issues early.

“This partnership embodies our shared mission to heal people, promote health, and strengthen communities,” said Carrie Penovich, southeast division president for Aspirus Health. “By helping to equip this state-of-the-art facility, we’re ensuring thousands of individuals and families in our region receive compassionate, high-quality dental care.”
