Over the two day period, speakers Jo Dawson, Preetee Hylton, Jo Dawber, Bee Power, Hannah Grieves, Rebecca Silver, Anthony Sweeney, Janet Pickles, Lin Little, Sharon Brennan and Joanne Rewcastle delivered presentations on subjects as diverse as domestic abuse, the RADC Reserves and oral healthcare in pregnancy. We are particularly proud of the fact that more than half of the speakers were fellow dental nurses sharing their wealth of knowledge and experiences with the audience. Visitors to the BADN stand were able to say hello to our Chief Executive, Pam Swain, and IT/Comms Admin Adam Skalski, as well as Chair Joan Hatchard, Treasurer Michelle Brand and President-elect Debra Worthington, who were on hand to discuss dental nurse issues and help our visitors with their questions and concerns. BADN have supported dental nurses for more than 80 years and hope to continue to do so for at least another 80!
The 80+2 Anniversary Afternoon Tea
BADN would like to thank all those who came to our 80+2 Anniversary Afternoon Tea on Saturday 14 May 2022, when we were finally able to celebrate in person 80+ years of supporting dental nurses. It was wonderful to have fellow dental nurses join us for this special occasion; and special thanks to Charlotte Price, Junior Vice President of the British Veterinary Nursing Association (BVNA), who also joined us and gave the toast to the Association. We were particularly honoured to have received a letter of congratulations from HM The Queen!
At the Tea, long-service membership badges were presented to Michelle Brand (5 years), Jenny Wood (10 years) and Paula Sleight (25+ years). Past Presidents Hazel Coey, Angie McBain and Paula Sleight were also presented with 80th anniversary brooches by President Jacqui Elsden.
President Jacqui also presented Chief Exec Pam Swain with a gold bangle from members of the Executive Committee, past and present, and Past Presidents, to mark 30 years of working for BADN. Pam was also made an Honorary Life Member of the Association.
We look forward to seeing everyone at the next year’s Show – 12 and 13 May 2023, Hall 5, NEC.
