Bewdley Practice Praised After Inspection Finds High Standards of Dental Care Across All Areas

Bewdley Dental Practice on Load Street has been rated as meeting regulations in all key areas following a recent inspection.

The inspection report, published on January 6, confirmed the practice was compliant in the categories of Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led.

Inspectors found that the practice had effective systems in place to identify and manage risks, including infection prevention and control. The report also noted that staff had the appropriate skills, knowledge and experience to carry out their roles.

Recruitment procedures were found to comply with current legislation, while leadership was described as effective, with a strong culture of continuous improvement. Care and treatment were delivered in line with current clinical guidance.

Inspectors said patients were treated with dignity and respect and were able to access care, support and treatment when needed.

The practice provides both NHS and private dental care for adults and children. It is located on the first floor of a Grade II listed building, which has structural restrictions and does not allow for step-free access.

Bewdley Dental Practice has eight treatment rooms and employs 36 staff. This includes 12 dentists, 11 dental nurses, three trainee dental nurses, three dental hygienists, four receptionists, three practice managers and a visiting dental technician.

Feedback was gathered from both patients and staff during the inspection. According to the report, patient responses were overwhelmingly positive, with praise for the dental team and the quality of care provided.

Patients also commented favourably on cleanliness standards. Many said they were able to book appointments within an acceptable timeframe and felt they were given enough time during consultations without feeling rushed.

Inspectors noted that patients received clear information about treatment options and associated costs, helping them to make informed decisions about their care.
