ADA Foundation accepts applications for grants

The ADA Foundation is accepting applications for grants to nonprofit organizations and agencies that provide innovative and effective oral health instruction and motivation for caregivers of preschool-aged children. The deadline for applications for the 2017 Samuel D. Harris Fund for Children’s Dental Health grant program is April 14. The program provides grants of up to $5,000, and last year it awarded 25 grants totaling close to $120,000.

New product: Brasseler launches instrument line

Dental and surgical instrument manufacturer Brasseler USA has launched a new line of diamond burs and refinement instruments. The Winter Restorative Concepts line was designed by Robert Winter, DDS. The line includes depth-limited diamond burs (three-tiered anterior burs, two-tiered posterior burs, and depth-limiting collar diamonds), shoulder diamond burs, and shoulder margin refinement instruments.

Trump administration to create opioid commission

The Trump administration is forming a national commission to combat opioid addiction. The commission will be chaired by New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie; the appointment will be announced later this week, according to a story on NJ.com. Christie will remain governor of New Jersey. The commission is part of the administration’s new White House Office of American Innovation, which will look for ways to improve government performance and streamline operations.
