Treatment
Treatment was completed in several stages:
- The affected teeth and surrounding tissues were cleaned and disinfected.

- The damaged tooth structure was rebuilt with restorative resin.
- The teeth selected for crowns were prepared for full-coverage restorations.

- A digital intraoral scan was taken for crown fabrication.
- Temporary restorations were fitted while the permanent crowns were prepared.

- Avoid chewing hard or sticky foods while wearing a temporary crown.
- Keep the temporary crown and surrounding gumline clean.
- Contact the clinic if the temporary or permanent crown becomes loose.
- Avoid biting hard objects directly with the restored teeth.
- Do not eat until the numbness from local anesthesia has completely resolved.
- Avoid hard foods for approximately one week after final crown placement.
- Mild short-term sensitivity may occur, but persistent pain should be examined.
- Brush twice daily with fluoride toothpaste and clean between the teeth.
- Attend regular dental examinations to monitor the crown margins and gum health.

How long do zirconia crowns last?

What are the disadvantages of zirconia crowns?
Zirconia is strong, but crowns may still chip, fracture, loosen or develop problems at their margins. An improperly adjusted surface may also wear the opposing tooth. Treatment requires removal of some natural tooth structure, and decay can still affect the tooth beneath the crown.
