Welcome Dentistry, a multi-patient dental practice in California, recently experienced a data breach. The incident was reported to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on August 13, 2025, and was attributed to a hacking attack.
The breach involved personally identifiable information (PII) and protected health information (PHI), which may include names, contact information, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver’s license or state identification card numbers, health or dental insurance information, dental records, and payment information.
The number of individuals affected has not yet been released, but it is believed to exceed 1,000. Because the breach involved PII and PHI, affected individuals should be aware of possible identity theft or medical claims fraud.
Welcome Dentistry stated that in addition to complying with state and federal disclosure requirements, they will make every effort to identify and notify affected individuals.
