Clinical tip: How to dry a canal

Today’s clinical tip of the day, courtesy of CDOCS, comes from Alyssa, a dental assistant who works for Dr. Diwakar Kinra. If you’re looking to level up your clinical knowledge when it comes to canal spaces, the video below will be a great help.

“Sometimes, when you’re drying the mesial, it helps to put a little bit of a bend in the paper point to get around that typical angulation. So you’ll want to keep doing this until the paper points start coming out dry. Sometimes it can be difficult to see with your eyes, so you can test them against your finger. And if they’re dry, they won’t have any give. So once that happens, it’s time to obturate and finish up the case.

“Thank you for watching, and you can find more tips like this by visiting Dr. Kinra’s workshops. Thank you.”
