In a video recorded during the Dentsply Sirona World meeting in Las Vegas, Dr. Chris Campbell shares a clinical tip that has helped him greatly in his dental practice in Columbia, SC.
“I think a lot of times we get really focused in dentistry, and we want to pick up the handpiece. When we want to start prepping, we want to start fixing, and I’ve noticed a lot of times, particularly with traumas, where kids might be upset.
“They might be crying, the parents are upset. A lot of times in our office, we’ll just take a quick impression or a quick digital scan. Now I’ll go back in the lab and, believe it or not, actually pull out my waxer and add a little bit of wax to these models to create putties. And that way, we can take that perfectly contoured tooth that we’ve achieved in the lab and bring that into the clinical setting. And a lot of times, that just makes that procedure so much more efficient.
“So, a little bit more time on the front end, but I think it makes us a lot more efficient on the back end.”
