The organization said that low reimbursement rates are causing Connecticut dentists to treat fewer Medicaid patients, discouraging patients from seeking dental care.
In a letter to the governor, Steve Hall, DMD, president of the CSDA, pressed for improvements to the Medicaid system and warned of the potential health implications if changes are not made.
State Comptroller Sean Scanlon recently proposed increasing Medicaid reimbursement rates in the 2025 Healthcare Cabinet Report.
There are 29 underserved populations and 40 dental professional shortage areas in Connecticut, the report said.
