Cosmetic dentistry is shifting from a cookie-cutter “perfect smile” to a more personalized, tailored smile.
Dr. Ralph Badawi, co-founder of the Paris Smile Clinic, explains that this trend focuses not only on dental aesthetics but also considers the patient’s lifestyle, personality, and facial features to create a unique, natural smile.
“Our goal is to make each patient’s smile completely their own, not a copy of someone else’s,” Dr. Badawi explains.
He notes that different patients have different smile preferences: some prefer a subtle, understated look, others seek confidence and glamour, while others prefer to retain small gaps in their teeth as a personal signature.
Modern cosmetic dentistry emphasizes holistic harmony, from eyes, hair, skin tone, to facial shape. Dr. Badawi compares cosmetic dentists to orchestral conductors, bringing together specialists from various fields, including orthodontics and surgery, to create custom smiles using science and art.
Beyond improving tooth alignment and gum lines, cosmetic dentistry can enhance patients’ confidence and become a form of self-expression. Dental accessories such as diamonds and specialized braces are also trending, but they must be performed within a healthy setting.
Dr. Badawi concludes: “Cosmetic dentistry doesn’t just change smiles; it changes lives. Every smile tells a unique story.”
