Most adults in the US recognise the value of dental insurance in supporting their overall wellbeing, according to the 2025 State of America’s Oral Health and Wellness Report.
The report, a nationwide study of consumer attitudes and behaviours conducted by an independent market research firm, found that adults with dental insurance were significantly more likely to visit the dentist for preventive care in 2024 (67%) compared with those without coverage (28%).
The report also indicates that 86% of adults consider dental insurance essential for protecting both oral and general health, while 85% say that having insurance encourages healthier oral care habits.
Commenting on the results, James W Hutchison, president and chief executive officer of Delta Dental Plans Association, noted that many insured adults continue to report perceived physical, mental, and financial benefits. He stated that the report highlights how dental insurance may help reduce financial barriers to care and support regular preventive visits. He added that the organisation remains committed to promoting access to dental care across all age groups.
