Dental Care Set for AI Overhaul as Henry Schein One Partners With AWS

Henry Schein One announced today a strategic partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to embed generative AI across its dental platforms — including Dentrix, Dentrix Ascend and Dentally.

The collaboration aims to turn Henry Schein One’s practice-management software into an “AI-augmented” system that streamlines clinical and administrative workflows.

The companies said AWS will supply core AI infrastructure and services — including Amazon Bedrock and Transcribe Medical — while Henry Schein One contributes its dental domain expertise.

Together, they plan to scale the technology across the U.S., U.K. and E.U. with a focus on interoperability and regulatory compliance.

Henry Schein One described the initiative as a multi-layered strategy to reduce friction across the dental patient journey. Planned features include a real-time documentation assistant that captures and summarizes patient interactions, and voice-activated perio charting for hands-free clinical notes.

The partnership will also introduce business tools powered by AI: predictive business intelligence, automated claims validation, dynamic pricing, and AI-driven scheduling and patient communication. The company says these capabilities will help practices optimize operations, reduce no-shows and improve revenue cycles.

“This collaboration represents a pivotal moment for dentistry,” said Ryan Hungate, Chief Clinical and Strategy Officer at Henry Schein One. He added that embedding AI into core workflows could shift time away from paperwork back to patient care.

Dan Sheeran, VP and General Manager for Healthcare and Life Sciences at AWS, said the companies are building solutions that aim to improve outcomes while easing administrative burdens. He emphasized the pairing of AWS’s AI services with Henry Schein One’s clinical knowledge.

Both firms stressed data security and regulatory compliance as central to the rollout. Henry Schein One said the platform will be designed to meet regional standards and to protect patient privacy as AI features are deployed.

The move signals growing use of generative AI in healthcare administration and clinical documentation. If widely adopted, the partners say, the technology could change how dental teams manage appointments, records, billing and patient engagement — making many routine tasks more automated and data-driven.
