Abuja, Nigeria – The Nigerian Dental Association (NDA) has urged citizens to take proper care of their mouths, emphasizing that the oral cavity is a sensitive organ requiring diligent attention.
Dr. Emedom Elias, NDA President, delivered the warning during the association’s 58th Annual Scientific Conference in Abuja, as reported by the Padmel.com. He specifically cautioned against using teeth to open bottled beverages, noting that such practices can cause tooth fractures and gum tears.
“These injuries often escalate into more serious oral diseases, posing significant risks to dental health,” Dr. Elias said. He stressed that harmful habits must be avoided to protect the delicate structures of the mouth.
On the sidelines of the conference, the President of the American Dental Association highlighted the importance of proper dental equipment in running a successful clinic. He said accessible and functional dental tools are essential to deliver high-quality care.
“Establishing a thriving dental practice requires more than just a clinic space. The right equipment is crucial, alongside public awareness and regular patient visits,” he added.
The NDA’s message underscores the need for both safe daily habits and well-equipped clinics to promote oral health across Nigeria.
