DentalInsurance, a leading dental insurance plan comparison platform in the United States, is helping seniors navigate dental benefits in their Medicare Advantage plans through an outreach program.
The program aims to help seniors evaluate their existing dental benefits and find suitable supplemental dental coverage if they are insufficient.
In July of this year, the American Dental Association (ADA) submitted a letter to the House Ways and Means Committee’s hearing panel on Medicare Advantage plans.
In the letter, the ADA stated that current Medicare Advantage dental benefits “are highly variable, limited in coverage, lack transparency and consistency, and ultimately fail to adequately meet patient needs.”
The letter emphasized that dentists and patients should be able to easily understand which services are covered and avoid complex processes when submitting claims or making payments.
The ADA also noted that some plans do not disclose annual maximum benefit limits or the specific dental treatments covered, and that some plans’ dental networks can make it difficult for seniors to find in-network providers.
To address this issue, DentalInsurance has published a new article, “5 Questions About Medicare Advantage Dental Benefits.”
The article uses a simple Q&A format to help seniors determine whether their existing dental benefits meet their needs. It also provides a guide to purchasing comprehensive dental insurance and a list of plans offering comprehensive dental benefits in each state.
The article also describes plans that bundle dental, hearing, and vision benefits, which are not covered by Original Medicare Parts A and B.
DentalInsurance offers free online customer service to answer seniors’ dental insurance questions and assist with enrollment, if necessary. Customer service hours are 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time, Monday through Friday (excluding holidays).
“Oral health is crucial for seniors, and quality dental insurance encourages them to visit their doctor regularly to maintain good oral health,” said Mark Kelsey, CEO of DentalInsurance.
Poor oral health can lead to tooth loss, which can affect chewing ability and nutritional intake, he added.
“Seniors place a high value on high-quality dental insurance, and our data shows they retain their dental insurance three to four times longer than younger customers,” said Avery Smith, President of DentalInsurance.
Founded in 2001 by Mark Kelsey, DentalInsurance is a pioneer in the online dental insurance marketplace. The platform offers licensed agent services, educational content, and a wide selection of PPO and HMO plans, serving individuals, families, and small businesses nationwide.
Headquartered in Los Angeles, California, DentalInsurance holds an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and a 4.8 out of 5 star rating on TrustPilot.
