Dentsply Sirona and Pearl have announced a partnership to provide AI-assisted support for 2D X-rays via DS Core, Dentsply Sirona’s cloud-based platform, integrated with Pearl’s Second Opinion chairside dental AI software. The aim is to enhance radiologic accuracy and improve patient communication.

The integration enables the automatic exchange of 2D X-ray data between DS Core and Second Opinion. Dentists can use AI-driven insights to identify anatomical structures and detect conditions such as early-stage cavities or bone loss. The system produces visualisations with automated annotations and measurements, which act as tools for patient education and support treatment planning.
“This collaboration with Dentsply Sirona brings our vision of accessible, trustworthy dental AI to an even broader global audience,” said Ophir Tanz, chief executive officer of Pearl. “By embedding Second Opinion directly into DS Core, we are giving clinicians seamless access to AI insights that strengthen their diagnostic confidence, improve patient communication, and ultimately elevate the standard of care across every practice.”
Max Milz, group vice-president of connected technology solutions at Dentsply Sirona, added: “Our goal is to foster an open, collaborative ecosystem where innovation thrives. With its open architecture, DS Core empowers partners and developers to build integrated solutions that streamline diagnosis, enhance patient outcomes, and optimise clinical workflows. Following the launch of our own AI-powered 3D X-ray capabilities on DS Core, this integration marks another step toward making advanced diagnostics more accessible and connected.”
DS Core API
The partnership is supported by the newly released DS Core API (application programming interface). The API provides rules and protocols that allow third-party providers, practice management systems, laboratories and dental service organisations to connect their applications with DS Core for improved workflows.
With expanding documentation and capabilities, the DS Core API enables developers to configure their systems for integration, allowing dental professionals to combine DS Core’s features with existing software solutions.
