Dentsply Sirona launches new digital solutions at DS World in Las Vegas

DS World in Las Vegas concluded on 23 Sep as thousands of dental professionals gathered for the annual clinical education event with over 100 education courses presented by more than 75 distinguished experts. In line with this year’s theme of “The Future of Care”, Dentsply Sirona announced the addition of several new products and solutions to its portfolio, including a new tool for SureSmile users as well as updates to its cloud-based platform, DS Core.

The DS Core platform aims to support dental professionals throughout the patient journey by connecting practice team members, equipment and services, and enabling collaboration with specialists, partners and laboratories. The platform’s communication canvas tool will be updated to allow annotations on 2D x-ray, 2D media and 2D CBCT slices, comprising of freehand drawing and text. Dentists can also share 2D media and DI scans straight from the communication canvas with patients – making file sharing with patients easy and GDPR/HIPAA compliant. Next, the viewing capability in DS Core has been expanded to support more data formats such as STL and PLY. This further integrates users of third-party intraoral scanners to the platform.

Last, DS Core’s new integrated ordering solution connects dental practices with laboratories and services, designed to make the placing and management of orders easier. An update to the chat function will allow laboratories to export their worksheet as PDFs, which aims to provide better accessibility from mobile phones.

Dentsply Sirona also unveiled its new SureSmile Simulator which shows patients a simulation of potential aligner treatment before it is started. Prior to treatment planning, the SureSmile Simulator assists dental professionals in evaluating each case by measuring initial models and generating estimated treatment duration and complexity from the post-simulation results, which allow clinicians to enter the planning phase with greater insight. The simulator also seeks to aid dental professionals in treatment conversations by showing patients the potential aesthetic benefits and helping them make informed and timely decisions. The new SureSmile Simulator requires user to have a DS Core subscription and Primescan IOS.

Furthermore, the Dentsply Sirona also launched two new products: the OSSIX Agile, which has a pericardium membrane and GLYMATRIX sugar cross-linking properties to provide longevity and biocompatibility designed for low host reactions and a long-lasting barrier effect and; the Midwest Energo, a new electric handpiece series.

At DS World, we aim to unite with dental professionals to help them move forward with confidence and advance our shared vision of transforming dentistry together,” said executive vice president and chief business officer at Dentsply Sirona, Andreas Frank.
