Dentsply Sirona continues to position itself as a long-standing provider of endodontic solutions, with a focus on scientific research, manufacturing quality, and product development. With more than 150 years of history in dental technologies, the company states that its approach to endodontics is guided by three core areas: evidence-based product development, consistent quality standards, and ongoing innovation.
Evidence-based approach to endodontics
The company reports that its reciprocating file systems have been widely studied in the scientific literature. To date, a total of 1,228 published articles are associated with its reciprocating file technologies, including 578 publications relating to the WaveOne family and 650 covering the Reciproc family. According to Dentsply Sirona, this body of research supports the clinical performance and safety of these systems.
Prof Ghassan Yared, who developed the Reciproc reciprocating file, has emphasised the role of scientific validation in advancing endodontic technologies, noting that innovation must be supported by robust research to support predictable clinical outcomes.
Manufacturing quality and global production
Quality control forms a central part of Dentsply Sirona’s manufacturing process. The company operates production facilities in Germany, Switzerland, and the US, each with an established history in dental manufacturing. These sites operate under global regulatory standards and collectively produce more than 140 million endodontic instruments each year, supporting over 35 million procedures worldwide.
Dentsply Sirona reports that more than three million individual quality checks are carried out annually across its facilities. These measurements are intended to ensure consistency, precision, and safety throughout production.
Innovation in endodontic technologies
The company has contributed to a number of developments in endodontic instrumentation over recent decades. These include the introduction of variable tapered files, carrier-based obturation systems, reciprocation techniques, off-centred file designs, and heat-treated file technologies. Dentsply Sirona is also positioned as a manufacturer of both endodontic motors and consumable instruments, which are designed to function as integrated systems.
Oliver Elsner, vice-president of research and development, essential dental solutions at Dentsply Sirona, stated that in-house production of both equipment and instruments allows the company to maintain consistency across its endodontic systems and retain control over manufacturing precision.
Through its continued focus on research, global production standards, and product development, Dentsply Sirona aims to support clinicians with endodontic solutions designed to meet clinical, mechanical, and procedural requirements within modern practice.
