
Dentsply Sirona World Tokyo 2024 has successfully concluded, with attendees enthusiastic about the event’s lectures, presentations of the latest innovations, and opportunities for professional growth and networking. The lineup of 27 speakers included both international and local dental thought leaders who shared their knowledge and insights into the future of digital dentistry. The speakers covered topics across many areas of dentistry, including restorative, implant dentistry, and orthodontics among others, and how digitalisation can support more efficient workflows. Among the mainstage highlights were presentations on:
- “The Forefront of Digital Dentistry in the US”, presented by Dr Takanari Miyamoto, offered a glimpse into how the digital transformation is underway overseas;
- In “Evolving Digital Workflows in Dentistry: Simple to Sophisticated”, Dr Mark Ludlow explored the transformative impact of digital technology on modern dentistry and covered single-tooth procedures to full-arch restorations;
- “The Future of Japanese Dentistry Created by Digital and Dentsply Sirona was a panel discussion that focused on the digital transformation of dentistry in Japan, offering key takeaways for local practitioners.
Further to the general session presentations, the program expanded into 11 breakout sessions, showcasing diverse aspects of modern dentistry. A standout session featured young dentists presenting clinical cases using DS Prime Solutions – Primeprint, PrimeTaper EV Implant and Primescan, highlighting how these innovative solutions and workflow transform their practices.
Innovations that move dentistry forward
Participants also had the opportunity to experience the company’s latest innovations firsthand, including Primescan 21 – the first cloud-native intraoral scanning solution; this wireless intraoral scanner allows user to scan directly to the cloud on any internet-connected device. The PrimeTaper EV Implant, a self-tapping, low torque implant, was also displayed and available for hands on experiences.
Going BEYOND for a more sustainable future
Another impactful session was led by Dr Keiko Okubo of the Women’s Dentist Association, who discussed the current needs of female dentists in the field and provided information about Dentsply Sirona’s global women speaker development programme called FirstTo50. The programme aims to empower women in dentistry by develop their speaking and presentation skills, fostering a new generation of speakers and opinion leaders. Making dentistry more inclusive is part of Dentsply Sirona’s sustainability strategy, “BEYOND: Taking Action for a Brighter World.” BEYOND represents the company’s commitment to driving sustainable change – both within its own operations and throughout the dental industry – by reducing its environmental footprint, fostering diversity, and supporting communities in need.
