Dentsply Sirona has announced that its dental resins Primeprint Splint ST and Primeprint Splint SF are now available for retainer manufacturing, further solidifying their position as premium resins for removable dental appliances within the Primeprint family.
These dental resins are FDA-cleared and CE-marked for multiple treatment uses such as repositioners, mouthguards, and nightguards. Retainers are also part of the range of applications the resins can be used for.

Specifically designed for use with Primeprint Solution, a highly automated, end-to-end, medical-grade 3D printing system, Primeprint Splint ST and Primeprint Splint SF resins offer a seamless solution for dentists and dental technicians looking to enhance or expand their service offerings.
Transparent printing with Primeprint Splint ST and Primeprint Splint SF resins delivers precision and biocompatibility, making them excellent for creating patient-specific retainers with minimal manual labour.
With wall thickness starting at 0.8 mm, the Primeprint Splint ST and Primeprint Splint SF dental resins offer different degrees of hardness and flexibility to accommodate the unique needs of each patient case. Primeprint Splint ST combines medium flexibility with medium hardness, while Primeprint Splint SF provides high flexibility and low hardness, enabling a comfortable fit and necessary support for patients requiring more flexibility in their appliances.
Both Primeprint Splint ST and Primeprint Splint SF resins are free of the harmful substances MMA, THF-MA, and TPO, and have a neutral taste and scent. Additionally, the post-processing results of these resins yield shiny and transparent outcomes, reducing the need for manual polishing.
Dentsply Sirona enables an easy and delegable additive manufacturing workflow. The process starts with a scan, either with Primescan, Primescan 2 or a third-party scanner. From there, dental professionals have the flexibility to design their own appliances using inLab CAD Software, order designs from DS Core Create, or utilise their preferred dental lab.
When utilising DS Core Create design services, the splint design is provided as a ready-to-print file within a turnaround time of six hours. After the design and the print file are ready, final steps would simply be highly automated printing and post-processing by the user using Dentsply Sirona’s Primeprint Solution as well as manual finishing by removing the support structures to ensure high-quality splints.
“Having the ability to manufacture retainers in-house gives me complete oversight of their quality and customisation, resulting in efficiencies in my practice. My patients appreciate the fast turnaround, and I love watching the final product being made in-house,” explained Dee Dee Meevasin, DMD, founder Dee for Dentist in Las Vegas, NV.
