Dr. Doug’s Pediatric Dentistry Reports Data Security Incident

Dr. Doug’s Pediatric Dentistry has announced a recent data security incident that may have involved personal and protected health information. The practice emphasized that it takes the privacy and security of all information very seriously. Letters notifying potentially affected individuals have been sent, along with resources to help them.

In September 2024, Dr. Doug’s discovered unusual activity in one of its email accounts. The practice immediately launched an investigation but could not confirm whether any emails were accessed without authorization. The investigation found that only this single email account was affected. No other systems or networks were compromised.

As a precaution, Dr. Doug’s reviewed all emails in the affected account to determine if personal or protected health information was involved. The review also gathered the contact information needed to notify affected individuals. This process concluded in June 2025, after which letters were sent to those with available mailing addresses.

The review indicated that the following information could have been involved: names, dates of birth, diagnosis or dental treatment information, and Medicaid or dental insurance details. In a small number of cases, Social Security numbers or driver’s license information may also have been affected. Not all data applied to every individual.

After discovering the incident, Dr. Doug’s took immediate steps to secure its email systems. The practice has also set up a toll-free call center to answer questions. Representatives are available Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Dr. Doug’s reaffirmed that protecting personal and health information is a top priority and expressed regret for any concern or inconvenience this incident may cause.
