Dundee Dental Staff and Students Promote Oral Health at Boomerang Spring Festival

Dundee Dental School faculty, staff, and students engaged with the local community at the Boomerang Spring Festival, an event aimed at reducing oral health inequalities through education.

Earlier this summer, the Dental Connections program continued to raise awareness of oral health in Dundee, with 12 dental students participating.

Boomerang hosts an annual Spring Festival event, providing families with the opportunity to explore local produce, enjoy a play area, and learn through a bookstall. The event also provides opportunities for community service.

This year, the Dental Connections program, a collaboration with students and faculty, was awarded the ADEE-Haleon Social Preventive Oral Health Award.

The funding supports new educational interventions and equipment for family-centered oral health activities.

Dundee Dental School has organized numerous community events in the past, but this was the first time they were held on a weekend, allowing for more frequent engagement with families.

Given the importance of the Boomerang Centre in the local community, the event attracted a large number of participants. Faculty, staff, and students were eager to engage with families and support the center.

Three interactive stations focused on nutrition, dental knowledge, and dental trauma, helping participants gain practical oral health insights in an engaging environment.
