The EXIMIA7 rotary endodontic file system and PURE-Ca-SEAL make root canals seamless while reducing the need for retreatments

Over the years, Dr. Steven Berk has used several endodontic file systems that have worked pretty well. But once he tried the EXIMIA7 rotary system from SS White, he knew he’d found something special. In fact, he replaced every file he had with the nickel-titanium instruments.

“It’s been that good,” he said. “The heat-treated nickel titanium enhances flexibility and reduces shape memory, so it bends naturally.”

EXIMIA7 is a complete, easy-to-use system including rotary files, matching paper points, and custom-fit gutta-percha that fills the canal perfectly. Dr. Berk’s cases wouldn’t be complete if he didn’t also try the premixed PURE-Ca-SEAL bioceramic sealer. He’s impressed by its flowability and exceptional apical and lateral seal, calling it his new go-to sealer.”

This bioceramic material is safe,” Dr. Berk said. “Its biocompatibility, healing qualities, and complete seal gave me confidence with my cases and won’t cause patients post-op sensitivity.”

A Less Invasive Approach

Dr. Berk noted that EXIMIA7 rotary files allow for more minimally invasive dentistry, and he appreciates that they come in 2 tapers—0.04 and 0.06. The files mimic the curvature of the canals, preserving the anatomy and making treatment more efficient.

The heat-treated nickel titanium is also a huge plus. The heat-treatment process reduces shape memory, allowing the fi les to adapt to tight curvatures without binding, Dr. Berk explained.

The EXIMIA7 rotary files also exhibit more wear resistance than other options, another advantage that keeps them working stronger for longer. “They are less prone to fracturing than with stainless-steel files,” Dr. Berk said, “and there is less chance of over-instrumentation of the canals.”

The files feature a parabolic cross-section and blade design that maximize cutting efficiency, while the non-cutting tip keeps it safe, reducing the chance for perforation. The constant taper design helps preserve pericervical dentin, allowing the tooth to maintain strength and contributing to long-term success.

The EXIMIA7’s design enables more efficient fluting, Dr. Berk said, ensuring faster debris removal, while the files’ maximum flute diameter of 1 mm allows for minimally invasive shaping. “You’re able to get down to the apex, fully obturate, clean, and know you’re getting a dry canal with the paper points,” he said. And he’s confident he’ll get a perfect match with the gutta-percha every time, allowing for a seamless end to the root canal procedure.

Effortless Endo

With the advanced features and benefits of the EXIMIA7 file system and PURE-Ca-SEAL, Dr. Berk is confident his root canals won’t need retreatment.

“We’re using technology to minimize chair time and complications,” he said. “It truly has allowed me to enjoy doing root canals again.”
