LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – Residents of Fern Creek and nearby communities will have the chance to receive free dental care this September. Dental Care at Cedar Crossing is hosting a Free Dentistry Day on Saturday, Sept. 6, offering essential dental services to those who might otherwise go without care due to financial constraints.
The initiative aims to provide access to preventive and restorative dental treatments, including cleanings and tooth extractions, for residents of Fern Creek, Highview, Mt. Washington, and surrounding areas. The event will be held at the clinic’s office located off Bardstown Road, just south of Interstate 265.
Clinic staff emphasize that insurance is not required to participate in the event. Services will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis, with doors opening at 8 a.m. Organizers encourage residents to arrive early to ensure they receive care, as availability may be limited.
Dr. Karen Thompson, lead dentist at Dental Care at Cedar Crossing, explained the motivation behind the event: “Many people in our community postpone dental visits because of the cost or lack of insurance. We want to remove those barriers, educate patients on oral health, and provide care that can prevent bigger problems down the line.”
In addition to offering treatment, the clinic will provide information on proper dental hygiene, including tips on brushing, flossing, and routine care. Volunteers from the clinic will be on hand to answer questions, provide guidance, and help patients feel comfortable throughout their visit.
Events like this highlight the importance of accessible dental care in local communities, especially for families and individuals who may not regularly see a dentist. Free Dentistry Day is part of the clinic’s ongoing commitment to community health and outreach, aiming to foster a healthier, more informed population.
