OAKLAND, CA — Harmony, a comprehensive oral care center, has officially opened in downtown Oakland, introducing an innovative model that combines advanced dental technology with whole-person health.
The clinic aims to expand access to oral health services, offering a full spectrum of care while accepting most insurance plans, including Medicare, with Medi-Cal enrollment coming soon.
Harmony leverages cutting-edge dental technologies to provide preventive screenings and holistic health assessments.
By recognizing oral indicators of systemic diseases, the clinic facilitates early intervention for conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, oral cancer, and mental health concerns.
Coordinated care with other healthcare providers ensures patients receive timely referrals, promoting overall community health.
Operating independently under its own management, Harmony collaborates strategically with California Delta Dental and its subsidiary, Emerge, Inc., for expertise sharing and professional development.
“Oral health is one of the most powerful diagnostic tools in healthcare,” said Dr. Greg Kaplan, Harmony’s clinical director. “At Harmony, we are bridging the gap between oral and overall health, creating a smarter, more equitable path to whole-person care.”
The clinic’s 43 dental chairs transform routine dental visits into opportunities for comprehensive health assessment.
Harmony’s opening addresses a critical healthcare gap in Oakland by expanding access to whole-person care, particularly for underserved populations.
“Harmony is part of the Oakland community,” Dr. Kaplan said. “We collaborate with local partners and dental clinics to support patient referrals, professional growth, and access to advanced care, enhancing service delivery and providing high-quality care to those in need.”
Jim Wunderman, CEO of the Bay Area Council, commented: “It’s inspiring to see such innovative healthcare investment in downtown Oakland. Harmony provides vital dental services while demonstrating how smart economic development can revitalize city centers.”
Delta Dental’s support aids Harmony in technological integration and long-term sustainability, creating new jobs and training opportunities for the local workforce.
“We are proud to partner with Harmony to redefine oral care,” said Sarah Chavarria, CEO and president of California Delta Dental.
“Together, we are expanding access, driving innovation, and showing the limitless potential of seamless oral and overall health care.”
Harmony employs Epic electronic health records and the Care Everywhere platform to facilitate secure, real-time information sharing between dental and medical teams.
This interoperability allows timely referrals, coordinated treatment plans, and early interventions for chronic and emerging conditions.
“Care Everywhere supports the exchange of over 25 million patient records daily,” said Corey Elfman, Epic implementation lead.
“In 2024 alone, dentists updated more than 234,000 medications based on Epic safety alerts, highlighting the benefits of fully interoperable health records. We are excited to support Harmony in delivering whole-person care.”
Dr. Kaplan added, “At Harmony, the dental chair becomes a frontline tool for prevention, early intervention, and care support.
Our tech-driven, patient-centered approach ensures every step—from scheduling to diagnosis—is personalized, convenient, and empowering.”
Harmony is located at 1333 Broadway, downtown Oakland, showcasing a new model of dental care that benefits patients, dental professionals, and the broader oral health community.
