IDEC’s opening ceremony at JICC

The fourth edition of the Indonesia Dental Exhibition & Conference (IDEC) opened at the Jakarta International Convention Centre (JICC). Organised by Koelnmesse and Amara Group, in collaboration with the Indonesian Dental Association (PDGI), IDEC 2025 serves as a platform for dental professionals, academics, and industry representatives to exchange knowledge, explore new technologies, and strengthen international cooperation.

The opening ceremony was attended by the director general of pharmaceutical and medical devices from the Ministry of Health, Dr Dra Lucia Rizka Andalucia, together with representatives from the organising committee and supporting organisations. The event marks the beginning of three days of exhibitions, scientific sessions, and interactive programmes involving participants from Indonesia and overseas.

In his opening remarks, Drg Himawan Halim, chairman of IDEC 2025, highlighted this year’s theme, “Transforming Dental Health Resilience,” which focuses on the role of innovation, adaptability, and collaboration in enhancing the dental care ecosystem. Speakers noted the increasing relevance of digital technologies, including artificial intelligence, in clinical workflows and patient care.

Mathias Kuepper, managing director & vice-president Asia-Pacific of Koelnmesse, emphasised IDEC’s continued growth within the region. According to the organisers, exhibitor participation has increased this year, reflecting international interest in Indonesia’s position within the regional dental industry.

The president of PDGI, Drg Usman Sumantri, MSc, welcomed attendees and noted IDEC’s role in linking domestic and international industry players. He stated that the platform offers opportunities for the development of dental technologies and supports efforts to strengthen Indonesia’s presence in the global market.

This year’s event features 250 brands from 11 countries, spanning the entire exhibition space. Exhibitors include companies from Australia, China, Finland, India, Italy, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, and the US. Three international pavilions — representing China, Italy, and Korea — form part of the exhibition, underlining IDEC’s position as a key event for regional and international industry engagement.

The exhibition showcases a wide range of technologies, including digital imaging systems, AI-based diagnostic solutions, and integrated treatment equipment designed to support clinical precision, efficiency, and patient comfort. The organisers note that the variety of technologies presented reflects ongoing developments within the wider oral healthcare industry.

Alongside the exhibition, the IDEC 2025 Scientific Conference features 13 speakers and six workshops led by local and international experts. Conference topics are structured around three thematic pillars:
• Digital adaptability: Emphasising the use of AI, diagnostics, and teledentistry
• Workforce sustainability: Focusing on professional development and practitioner wellbeing
• Public health preparedness: Addressing prevention, community engagement, and equitable access to oral healthcare

The programme aims to equip participants with practical insights and skills relevant to current and emerging challenges within dentistry, while encouraging collaboration between practitioners, innovators, and policymakers.

On-site registration remains available throughout the event, providing opportunities for visitors to explore one of Indonesia’s largest dental industry gatherings, where education, technology, and industry engagement come together to support the continued development of dental care in Indonesia.
