Kitchener Clinic Marks Milestone in Dental Care as 500+ Patients Use Canadian Plan

DENTISTRY AT FREDERICK, Kitchener — Dentistry at Frederick says it has helped more than 500 local residents access dental treatment through the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), a milestone the practice links to rising demand for affordable oral health services.

The family practice, which has served Kitchener for more than 25 years, began accepting CDCP patients soon after the federal program launched. Since then staff report a steady increase in calls from individuals and families seeking help with eligibility, covered services and enrollment.

Many callers, the clinic says, delayed care for years because of cost. Patients who have used the CDCP at Dentistry at Frederick received services ranging from routine cleanings and exams to fillings, dentures and emergency visits.

“Our job is to make that process as simple and comfortable as possible,” said Dr. Beaton. “We see every day how financial barriers can prevent people from getting even basic dental care. The CDCP has allowed many of our patients to finally move forward with treatments they’ve been putting off.”

Clinic administrators have taken an active role guiding first-time enrollees through documentation requirements and explaining how coverage applies to different treatments. That hands-on approach, staff say, has been particularly valuable for patients unfamiliar with the new system.

The milestone has also sparked interest from local organizations and health-focused groups seeking guidance on CDCP access. Dentistry at Frederick encourages Kitchener and Waterloo residents unsure about the program to contact the clinic for help scheduling an initial exam and confirming eligibility.

The practice says it will continue to accept new CDCP patients and aims to reduce confusion and financial barriers that keep people from seeking necessary dental care.
