Maltepe Dental Clinic, with locations in Istanbul and London, has seen a rise in international patients seeking laminate veneers at its Istanbul practice. Over the past 24 years, patients from more than 85 countries have traveled to Turkey for cosmetic dental procedures. This trend is in line with Turkey’s growing reputation as a hub for medical tourism, with the Turkish Ministry of Health reporting a steady increase in international arrivals in the sector.
One of the clinic’s recent patients is Amber Quinn, a Miami-based content creator, social media influencer, and model. Quinn came to Istanbul after experiencing discoloration with composite veneers placed in Colombia. Her five-day treatment involved replacing these veneers with Emax Veneers, using minimally invasive methods to preserve her natural tooth structure. “Compressed treatment timelines are essential for international patients,” said Dr. Alper Gurhan, the clinic’s chief dentist. “Having an in-house laboratory means we can complete fabrication and application without relying on third-party facilities.”
The clinic’s process begins with a digital consultation before patients arrive, followed by treatment planning and veneer application in Istanbul. With its on-site laboratory, Maltepe Dental Clinic is able to reduce the number of visits needed for patients, especially those traveling internationally. This structure is designed to accommodate the tight schedules of patients who must coordinate travel and treatment.
Quinn, who documented her treatment on social media while staying in Istanbul’s Moda neighborhood, has contributed to the clinic’s increased inquiries. The clinic says that patient-generated content has been a significant driver of interest, supporting research on the role of social media in medical tourism decisions.
“Starting treatment planning remotely shortens the time patients spend on-site,” said Dr. Yusuf Ilhan, chief dentist at Maltepe Dental Clinic. “For those traveling from abroad, this scheduling efficiency is often a key factor in choosing a treatment facility.”
Quinn plans to return to the clinic with her mother for dental care. According to the clinic, about 30 percent of international patients return with family members for additional treatments. Cosmetic dentistry makes up 65 percent of the clinic’s international patient volume, with laminate veneers being the most requested procedure.
Maltepe Dental Clinic is ISO certified and authorized by Turkish health authorities for international health tourism. The clinic has published over 300 patient case studies and holds 349 Google reviews. While the primary location for treatment is in Istanbul, the London facility serves as a consultation and follow-up center for European patients.
