New Pediatric Dental Practice in Chester Aims to Redefine Patient Care

Chester, PA — A new pediatric dental office in Chester is changing the way children experience oral healthcare by blending clinical treatment with spa-like comfort. The Children’s Tooth Spa, led by Dr. Jenny Pinero, opened this month at 1420 Providence Avenue, offering what she calls a “sensory-first” approach to dental care.

The environment at the Children’s Tooth Spa is intentionally calming. Soothing lavender aromas fill the air. Soft flute music plays throughout the office. Walls are painted in muted tones of blue and purple. Patients are offered weighted blankets, warmed aromatherapy towels, and even balloons to take home. Parents can relax on blue velvet couches while sipping coffee, tea, or lattes.

“Our goal is simple—everyone who walks in should feel like they matter,” said Dr. Pinero, who was born in Korea and adopted by Cuban immigrants. “Whether it’s the child or the parent, every decision we make—from design to interaction—is focused on emotional comfort and connection.”

The office recently welcomed its first four patients. Dr. Pinero announced that the first 50 children without insurance will receive free dental care. The practice accepts PPO and state insurance plans, excluding HMOs, and also welcomes cash payments.

A Focus on the Five Senses

Dr. Pinero designed the practice to appeal to all five senses, using music, scent, lighting, and touch to ease anxiety.

“From the moment they enter, children and parents are met with soothing visuals, calming sounds, and gentle care,” she said. “We want kids to feel safe, not scared.”

Dental assistant Yani Colon, who joined the practice earlier this year, said the atmosphere benefits staff as well.

“It’s very relaxing,” she said. “Even for us, it reduces stress and helps us focus better.”

Weighted blankets are available in each patient room, helping children feel grounded during treatment.

“Research shows that feeling pressure, like from a hug, can help reduce anxiety in children,” Pinero explained.

A Transparent, Family-Centered Approach

Unlike many pediatric dental offices, the Children’s Tooth Spa encourages parents to stay with their children throughout the appointment—even during procedures.

“Traditionally, pediatric dentists separate parents during treatment,” Dr. Pinero said. “But we invite them to be part of everything. They can see the X-rays, ask questions, and help make informed decisions.”

This open-door policy, she said, helps build trust.

“When parents see the process, they become partners in their child’s care,” she added. “If a child becomes anxious or uncooperative, parents witness it firsthand and help decide how to proceed.”

More Than Dental Work

For Dr. Pinero and her team, patient care goes beyond teeth.

“Sometimes, it’s just listening to what a parent or child needs emotionally,” she said. “Whether it’s easing pain, creating a safe space after a traumatic experience elsewhere, or just being present for someone who needs healing—this work is personal.”

That sentiment is shared by her staff. Dental assistant Yani Colon started as an extern in January and decided to stay.

“When I first came here, I knew I wanted to be part of this,” she said. “I believe in everything Dr. Jenny stands for. It’s not just a job—it’s a mission.”

Meeting a Critical Need in Chester

The opening of the Children’s Tooth Spa addresses a critical healthcare gap in Chester, providing high-quality pediatric dental care in a setting designed for comfort, inclusion, and healing.

“This is more than just dental work,” Dr. Pinero said. “It’s about restoring trust, reducing fear, and making children feel seen.”
