Yeshiva University College of Dental Medicine in New York City plans to accept its first class of students later this year as part of its effort to fill workforce gaps and increase accessibility.
The College of Dental Medicine will be the first new dental school in New York City in more than a century, according to a March 11 news release.
The school will enroll 150 students into its three-year program beginning in July. The accelerated DDS program will allow students to enter the field more quickly with less financial burden.
The dental school will also include a 130-chair clinic, which will offer training for students in addition to affordable dental care for patients. The clinic is expected to serve hundreds of patients each day, the university said.
The university initiated the process of launching its dental school in 2024, appointing Edward Farkas, DDS, as dean.
The dental school was established with the help of a $15 million gift from philanthropists Morris Bailey and Joseph L. Jerome, according to the news release.
