NRI Launches UATD EYI Toothpaste to Boost Oral Health and Local Empowerment

Natural Renewal International (NRI), Nigeria’s leading homegrown healthcare company, has launched two new toothpastes designed to improve oral health in Nigeria.

The two products—UATD EYI Adult Activated Charcoal Toothpaste (with turmeric and other herbal extracts) and UATD EYI Children’s Toothpaste (available in strawberry and grape flavors)—were unveiled at a launch event in Lagos last month.

According to the Sunday Ehigyat newspaper, both toothpastes are locally formulated and produced in Nigeria, and the launch marks a significant milestone for NRI and the thriving Nigerian personal care industry.

NRI CEO, Professor Clinton Brown Odiagbe, emphasized that these new products are part of the company’s broader mission to leverage Africa’s natural resources for the benefit of its people and boost economic development.

“These products represent a breakthrough in oral care, setting a new standard in quality and adding exciting options to our product line,” said Professor Odiagbe.

He also introduced PASTE4ALERT, a unique empowerment program designed to create opportunities and expand impact.

NRI has partnered with renowned manufacturer Colori Cosmetics to produce UATD EYI toothpaste in Nigeria for African consumers.

Professor Odiagbe emphasized, “Africa has the resources, talent, and partnerships to develop world-class solutions.

NRI is committed to raising the bar, not only in product innovation, but also in promoting initiatives that break the cycle of poverty and health.”

This adult bamboo charcoal toothpaste contains aloe vera leaf extract, which whitens teeth, fights bacteria and inflammation, and relieves tooth sensitivity.

Professor Odiagbe explained that these natural ingredients can be transformed into a premium oral care solution while promoting overall well-being and local economic empowerment.

Unlike traditional toothpaste, this bamboo charcoal toothpaste also promotes relaxation and improved sleep. The launch showcases NRI’s commitment to providing natural, comprehensive oral care that enhances both dental and overall health.

Professor Odiagbe, a professor of naturopathic medicine, shared that his interest in herbal remedies stemmed from personal experience and exposure to traditional healing practices in China and India, which reinforced his commitment to African-centric herbal solutions.

Since its establishment in 2020, the Nigerian Herbal Research Institute (NRI) has produced over 16 certified herbal health products, serving over 3 million Nigerians. The launch also included the presentation of automobile awards to top distributors, symbolizing empowerment opportunities.

Titus Taylor, Head of the Department of Traditional, Complementary, and Alternative Medicine, noted that locally sourced natural ingredients can create jobs and economic benefits throughout the entire production value chain. He emphasized the proven medicinal benefits of charcoal.

Government efforts to promote traditional medicine include policy formulation, the development of a national list of herbal medicines, and the establishment of research and development institutions to ensure the growth of herbal products.

Dignitaries attending the launch included King Alhaji Aminu Addo Bayero, representatives from the Ministry of Health, led by Titus Taylor, Dr. Dogara Okara, Mrs. Alice Bola Obasanjo, representing former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Dr. Abisoye Arabi, and Ambassador Adekunle Badmusi.
