Osstem Implant reportedly acquires Implacil De Bortoli, Brazil’s third-largest dental implant firm

Osstem implant has recently acquired Implacil De Bortoli, Brazil’s third-largest dental dental implant company, according to news reports from various South Korean media outlets. The different media outlets reported that according to sources involved in the deal, Osstem Implant signed a contract on 13 Apr 2024 worth US$89.8m to acquire a 100% stake in the company.

Implacil De Bortoli is an implant manufacturer founded in Brazil in 1982 which offers a range of 15 bone level and tissue level implants with tapered and straight shapes. It is distributed in over nine countries and is headquartered in Sao Paulo, Brazil. In recent years, Implacil De Bortoli has launched a series of exclusive products to offer a complete portfolio of solutions which includes the Maestro implant, Due Cone, Ideale Prosthetic Line, Pilar Z, Guided Surgery Set for tapered implant, CAD/CAM prosthesis on implants and exclusive surgical and prosthetic sets.

Moreover, Hiossen Implant, the US affiliate for Osstem Implant, will providing the funding for the acquisition according to the reports. The conclusion of the deal is expected by the end of May. The reported acquisition of Implacil is also said to accelerate Osstem Implant’s expansion into Latin America, one of the fastest-growing dental services market.

With the investment of Emirati state-owned holding company Mubadala Investment Company in Osstem Implant in October 2023, it is said to support the South Korean manufacture in its next phase of growth, responding to global demand for cosmetic dentistry and comprehensive dental solutions.

Although the size of the investment in Osstem was not disclosed, Mubadala Investment Company ranks as one of the UAE’s top sovereign wealth funds, with managed assets totaling US$284.4 billion ranking as high as 13th among global sovereign funds. The investment was also made in partnership with MBK Partners and Unison Capital.
