PDS Health Launches PDS Health Medical to Integrate Oral Health with Primary Care

PDS Health, a leading integrated healthcare support organization, announced the launch of PDS Health Medical, a new business unit dedicated to seamlessly integrating dental and medical services through connected offices, embedded clinicians, and coordinated referrals.

This initiative, based on clinical insights and years of innovation, embodies the company’s belief that oral health is essential to overall health and marks a key step toward connected preventative care.

“As our understanding of the connection between oral and physical health deepens, the separate dental and medical models have become a barrier to improved health,” said Stephen E. Thorne IV, Founder and CEO of PDS Health.

PDS Health Medical is a response to this problem. By integrating dentistry with primary care, we are creating a more comprehensive model of care and improving patient health outcomes.”

The integrated model, initially piloted in Summerlin, Nevada, combines dental and medical services in a single location.

It has now expanded to 13 fully operational clinics, including eight in Las Vegas and five in the greater Phoenix area. Each clinic leverages shared systems and unified clinical processes to enable teamwork and whole-person care.

The model is powered by Epic, a leading electronic health record system. Since becoming the first dental practice of its size to fully deploy Epic, PDS Health has established the world’s largest oral health system deployment.

This infrastructure, encompassing both dental and medical services, provides clinicians with access to a complete patient history, enabling more coordinated and informed care.

“Clinicians now have a holistic view of their patients’ health that was previously unavailable when dental and medical care operated in silos. This is transforming preventive care and chronic disease management,” said Joe Feldsien, President of PDS Health Medical.

Moving forward, PDS Health Medical plans to expand its integrated care model in existing and new markets, with a focus on Nevada, Arizona, California, and Colorado.

At the same time, it offers primary care providers a unique path forward, combining practice ownership and autonomy with operational support to promote whole-person care in their communities.

In addition, PDS Health Medical is exploring partnerships with like-minded health systems to provide more connected and convenient care. With its national presence and established infrastructure, the organization is well-positioned to support the growth of primary care through an integrated, community-based model.

By integrating dental and medical services, sharing systems, and connecting teams, PDS Health Medical embodies the company’s long-term vision to transform healthcare by improving access, strengthening care, and prioritizing long-term patient health.
