Chicago company unveils newest air polishing system at CDS Midwinter Meeting.
By Stan Goff, Senior Managing Editor
Chicago-based HuFriedyGroup had a big week at the CDS Chicago Midwinter Meeting, launching a new product and throwing a launch party at Navy Pier to celebrate the arrival of the PWR Air.

Designed to support efficient, high-quality air polishing, PWR Air helps clinicians elevate everyday preventive and implant care while integrating seamlessly into existing workflows. As part of the growing PWR family, the device reinforces HuFriedyGroup’s commitment to practical innovation that improves clinical outcomes and patient experience.
Dentistry Today visited the HuFriedyGroup booth at McCormick Place and Akta Amin, RHD, BS, and Nancy Miller, RDH, demonstrated the sleek new air polishing system.
Amin explained how HuFriedyGroup listened to feedback from customers and made enhancements to its PWR Pair Piezoelectric Scaler & Air Polisher—launched in the spring of 2025. The earlier version, which also was on display at the booth, delivers the power of all-in-one versatile air polishing to every clinician treating every patient. The PWR Pair brings users the power of supra- and subgingival calculus and stain removal, biofilm disruption, and implant cleaning.
“The PWR Air still has 2 chambers with continuous air flow, and it has 2 types of powder, one for hygiene and one for perio,” Amin said. “It is great for implant maintenance; really a game changer.”
The PWR Air delivers biofilm disruption to support effective preventive care, stain removal for consistent, polished clinical results, and, as Amin stressed, implant maintenance designed to support long-term implant health.
“You can toggle between the settings to meet patient needs, there is no clogging, and there are a lot of fail safes built into this,” she added. “Using the PWR Air is just so much more efficient. It’s a no-brainer.”
The newest addition to the company’s PWR portfolio, PWR Air, marks a significant moment in HuFriedyGroup’s continued evolution and renewed focus on comprehensive dental care. Alongside the product launch, attendees were invited to experience PWR Air firsthand through a unique Mobile Air Polishing Experience.

“Chicago Midwinter has always been an important moment for our customers and for our company,” Rob Woolley, CEO of HuFriedyGroup, said in a press release leading up to the trade show, which ran from February 19 to February 21. “Launching PWR Air here, in our hometown, allows us to connect directly with clinicians and show how our renewed focus is translating into solutions that truly support the way they practice every day.”
From trusted instruments to advanced technologies like PWR Air, HuFriedyGroup is redefining how dental professionals prepare for what’s next. The company celebrated the debut of PWR Air with the PWR Air Launch Party on the opening night of the Chicago Midwinter Meeting with an exclusive event at Chicago’s Navy Pier.
Throughout the meeting, clinicians were also invited to step aboard the Mobile Air Polishing Experience, an interactive, hands-on environment that brings air polishing workflows to life. The mobile experience offers a practical and engaging way to explore PWR Air outside of the traditional booth setting.
