Q: Dr. Suh, why were dental products your chosen path? What attracted you to problem-solving in dentistry? , ,A: I didn’t actually choose to research dental products, but I somehow ended up working for a dental product company developing composites. When I left that company to start BISCO, I knew dentistry needed 2 solutions: how to bond to tooth structure, and how to bond to metal. And I knew that I could fi gure out that solution., ,Q: Over the course of 40 years, what was the riskiest/ most challenging product to develop and why? , ,A: I think TheraCal LC was the most challenging product, not just to develop, but to manufacture and fi gure out how to make sure it remained stable over time. It was actually developed in 2003 but it took many years to solve some of the stability/separation issues before we fi nally were able to launch it in 2011., ,Q: In 2017, you acknowledged that BISCO had to do a better job of letting new dentists know why chemistry is important and why you’re the chemistry expert. What steps have you taken (or do you plan to take) to reach this awareness goal? , ,A: We are always learning and trying new ways to reach our customers, and for the last few years, we have been actively sharing information and building the BISCO brand through social media outlets, including Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. We are also creating fun but educational videos that I think young dentists can appreciate more, as well as updating our website to allow for more access to information, education, and products., ,Q: What does the future of restorative dentistry look like and what role will BISCO play? , ,A: I am excited about BISCO’s role in developing innovative new products that will enhance and improve restorative dental procedures. We have a great R&D team here at BISCO that I am confident will continue BISCO’s track record of developing new products in adhesive dentistry, bioactive materials, and self-adhesive materials that will enhance the future of restorative dentistry
