Radiology Partners (RP), a provider of radiology services in the United States, has launched Mosaic Clinical Technologies and its proprietary MosaicOS platform — a cloud- and AI-native operating system developed to address ongoing challenges in the radiology sector, such as rising imaging volumes and a shortage of qualified professionals.

According to RP, MosaicOS integrates diagnostic technologies, artificial intelligence (AI) tools, and smart workflows into a unified system. The platform is designed to improve clinical outcomes and operational efficiency across hospitals and imaging centres.

“MosaicOS represents an urgent call from our specialty,” said Dr Nina Kottler, associate chief medical officer for clinical AI at RP. “Demand is growing. Worklists are getting longer. While the pace of AI innovation is exciting, fragmented technologies create friction, forcing radiologists to toggle between systems and duplicate tasks, ultimately slowing care. MosaicOS rewrites the rules, connecting AI, clinical expertise and scalable technology into a single solution that empowers radiologists and restores focus to patient care.”

The system aims to relieve financial, staffing, and workflow constraints by improving clinical capacity and streamlining operations. Developed by radiologists and supported by a team of radiology-focused technology and AI professionals, MosaicOS offers the following features:

  • Integrated tools and AI-driven functions to unlock clinical capacity
  • Rapid, cloud-based deployment to reduce IT burden and support quick implementation
  • An AI-enhanced interface to improve communication, care coordination, and diagnostic accuracy
  • Compatibility with or replacement of existing imaging management and storage technologies

“MosaicOS will enable us to innovate, iterate and improve imaging care at an accelerated pace,” said Rich Whitney, RP’s chief executive officer and board chair. “With a market leadership position, a unique collection of clinical and technical talent and the capital to invest, we see this not only as an opportunity but as our responsibility.”

Among its first functionalities are Mosaic Reporting, which uses ambient voice AI and large language models (LLMs) to reduce report preparation time, and Mosaic Drafting, which applies multimodal AI to pre-draft x-ray reports for review and approval. Mosaic Drafting is currently under Institutional Review Board protocols and seeking FDA approval.

Further developments planned for late 2025 include a centralised patient information hub supported by AI to assist clinical workflows.

“MosaicOS is foundational to delivering on our promise of clinical excellence,” said Dr Krishna Nallamshetty, chief medical officer at RP. “This innovation isn’t just about simplifying workflows; it’s about unlocking clinical potential. By empowering radiologists to practise at the top of their license, MosaicOS™ allows them to lead the specialty forward and set new standards for patient care.”

RP plans to roll out the platform across its national network of affiliated practices and key clients through 2025 and 2026. Eventually, the company intends to make MosaicOS commercially available to external hospitals, health systems, and imaging centres, extending its reach beyond RP-affiliated organisations.
