The introduction of these fees will correct this situation and ensure alignment with our fee-setting policy. The removal of this cross-subsidy has also contributed to the recently announced reductions to the Annual Retention Fee for dental professionals.
The new registration application fees are made up of two parts:
- a flat rate for processing costs, and
- a variable rate for costs associated with assessing the application.
The registration application fees will be applied as follows:
| Bank descriptor (precentages are the proportion of application from this band in 2018) | Processing fee | Assessment fee | Total fee |
| Registration as a UK-qualified dentist, dental care professionals (DCP) or additional DCP title(s) (65%) | £22.95 | – | £22.95 |
| Registration as dentist with an EEA qualification, has passed the Overseas Registration Exam (ORE), or a recognised overseas qualification (9%) | £22.95 | £65.65 | £88.60 |
| Registration (requiring individual assessment) as a DCP with a European Economic Area (EEA) qualification, or as overseas qualification (4%) | £22.95 | £506.25 | £529.35 |
| Registration as a dentist with a qualification requiring an individual assessment (2%) | £22.95 | £662.40 | £685.35 |
| Registration (requiring individual assessment) of additional DCP title(s) with an EEA qualification, or an overseas qualification (1%) | £22.95 | £453.40 | £476.35 |
| Registration as a temporary dentist (<1%) | £22.95 | £79.30 | £102.25 |
