Singapore Dental Council election 2024 open till 1 Apr

Voting for the Singapore Dental Council election 2024 is now open from 26 Mar 2024, 8am, and will close on 1 Apr 2024, 11:59pm. Voting is compulsory for all fully registered dentists resident in Singapore who have a valid practising certificate during the election period.

This election will fill five vacancies in the Singapore Dental Council arising from the expiry of the term of office on 30 April 2024 for five elected members. The five candidates with the highest number of votes will be elected and shall hold office for a period of three years from 1 May 2024 to 30 April 2027. The election of council members is held once every 3 years.

The six candidates standing for the election are: Dr Ang Ee Peng Raymond, Dr Choo Keang Hai, Dr Goh Siew Hor, Dr Intekhab Islam, Dr Kuan Chee Keong, and Dr Tan Tien Wang.

The election will be conducted online via the Professional Registration System (PRS). A dentist who is required to vote and fails to do so shall not be entitled to apply for a practising certificate unless he/she satisfies the Registrar that he/she had a good and sufficient reason for not voting at the election; or he/she pays to SDC a penalty of S$500. Conditionally registered (C-reg) or Temporarily registered (T-reg) dentists are not required to vote in the SDC election.

The call for nomations was first made on 14 February 2024 following the expiry of the term for five elected members: Dr Ang Ee Peng Raymond, Dr Choo Keang Hai, Dr Ng Fooi Chin, Dr Ng Jing Jing, and Dr Tan Tien Wang

The Singapore Dental Council is the self-regulatory body for the dental professions constituted under the Dental Registration Act 1999. Its key objectives are to promote high standards of oral health and to promote the interests of the dental profession in Singapore.
