US Tooth Fairy Launches “My Smile Matters” Campaign to Promote Oral Health Nationwide

With National Oral Health Month approaching, the American Tooth Fairy is calling on dental professionals to participate in its fourth annual “My Smile Matters” campaign.

Launching in 2022, the campaign celebrates the vital role of dental caregivers and highlights the life-changing impact of preventative oral health education.

In 2024 alone, over 100,000 children, caregivers, and parents accessed the campaign’s free downloadable resources.

“This campaign isn’t just about raising awareness; it’s about making a real difference,” said Jill Malmgren, Executive Director of the American Tooth Fairy.

“Dental professionals have a unique opportunity to educate and empower families, showing that tooth decay is preventable.”

Highlights of this year’s campaign include:

Dental Caregiver Recognition: Nominate an outstanding caregiver who supports disadvantaged children. Five honorees will be recognized for helping low-income children maintain healthy smiles.

Social Media Toolkit: Provides ready-to-use posts, images, and videos to raise awareness throughout October.

Free educational materials: Printable handouts, activity sheets, and oral health tips for infants, children, teens, and parents.

Candy Rating Contest: Children and community members rate which Halloween candies are the worst for teeth. Five contestants will win a $100 prize.

Limited Edition T-shirts: Quantities are limited and available while supplies last.

Dental professionals, educators, and oral health advocates can participate for free by registering at MySmileMatters.org, which provides all the campaign resources for planning clinics, classrooms, and community events.

“This campaign thrives because of the active participation of dental professionals,” Malmgren added. “Whether providing care, educating families, or encouraging children to consider a career in dentistry, your participation will have a lasting impact.”
