While the idea of bringing a 3D printer into your office may seem overwhelming, fear not—SHINING 3D Dental recently launched the AccuFab-CEL, which combines blazingly fast printing speeds with reliable accuracy and a simple workflow—all benefits that allow practices to keep more of their dentistry (and their patients) in-house. Just ask Isaac Tawil, DDS, MS, who uses the CEL to do just that…and then some.

A few years ago, SHINING 3D Dental introduced us to the AccuFab-L4D—a groundbreaking dental 3D printer that offers precision, accuracy, and versatility. It has dual-size ceramic plates that are easily transferable to the wash, creating a highly efficient 3D printing environment. Now, 3D printing has become even faster and easier with the new AccuFab-CEL, which increases resolution from 4k to 6k, accuracy from 50 to 35 µm, and reduces print time for models from 42 minutes to just 12 minutes.

AccuFab to the Rescue

The CEL’s internal cabin temperature control creates an optimal environment for printing, with the ability to increase the temperature when needed to ensure printing accuracy and stability. Another improvement over its predecessor is a 1-click locking mechanism that ensures the build plate is in the correct position; it’s also easy to remove, which allows for simple transfer to the FabWash and FabCure 2 units.

Whether you’re new to digital dentistry or a veteran, the AccuFab-CEL is a brilliant choice for any practice. In our office, we treat full-arch implant cases by printing surgical guides, and then scanning with our intraoral scanner, which we send to a designer for a quick, 1-hour turnaround time. Thanks to the advanced processing power of the CEL, we can print provisional restorations in about 15 minutes, with another 10 minutes for washing and curing, allowing us to create same-day printed restorations for our patients.

The printing software also has been improved to include features like guided leveling, automatic setting of printing parameters, and safety checks to ensure that the previous model has been removed from the build plate. Plus, a wonderful new feature syncs the wash and cure to the printer, ensuring proper timing for the chosen material in each unit.

Overall, it has become a fool-proof software that simplifies the workflow for both clinicians and assistants, who may be caught up in a busy workday.

3D Printing Is Here to Stay

The evolution of 3D printing in dentistry has been remarkable since its inception, with a shift from primarily printing models and surgical guides to a wider array of applications. Whether you’re fabricating temporaries or implant provisionals, 3D printing isn’t just a pipe dream anymore—it’s reality. The beauty of the AccuFab-CEL is that it removes tedious tasks and allows dental practitioners to focus on what matters most—dentistry.
