Education Passport

Implant Direct offers a cost-effective path to CE courses that can broaden your skill set and grow your practice

Several years ago, Dr. Mike Horasanian enrolled in Implant Direct’s Education Passport program to learn how he could treat his rural patient population with the latest implant dentistry. Here, he explains why he believes his practice growth has soared as a result of this cost-effective educational program.

I practice in Oakhurst, CA, a rural area with very few specialists. My patients don’t want to drive long distances to metropolitan areas to see specialists. As a general practice dentist, I’ve always wanted to be the one to restore my patients to complete dental health, but I knew I needed training for implants and other advanced restorative procedures. I got the education and training I needed with the Implant Direct Education Passport program, and it has simply transformed my practice!

Education is costly, but I paid one price for the Passport and I had unlimited access to all the CE courses offered at a significant savings. I even took some courses more than once, because you learn so much more that second time. For 30 years, I was practicing dentistry the way I learned it in dental school—fillings, crowns, bridges, partial and full dentures—we just weren’t trained in implants. I never felt good when a patient lost a terminal molar or molars and I’d have to tell them, “We can make you a partial denture,” because I’d never want to wear a partial denture myself! Now, with implant surgery, all that has changed.

I just treated a patient who was going to need a very costly root canal, and the prognosis was only fair at best. We removed the tooth, placed an implant and performed a bone graft, and he’s healing well. He’s pleased as punch, and so am I. Many times in the past when my patients would receive implants from specialists, we would find it very difficult to restore with a great esthetic result due to positioning issues. When I’m involved in restorative procedures from start to finish, I see much better results.

My most valuable courses were Implant Site Development and Full Arch Rehabilitation. I also took Photography and Office Management courses— fantastic! The instructors are truly gifted, and they’ve become valuable mentors, too. And I’ve met classmates from across the world.

I’m now using my third Passport and I would encourage other dentists who are cautious about implants and new technology to take the step—that’s the hardest part—and enroll in the Education Passport program. It’s been gratifying for me as a practitioner and it’s been great for practice growth.
