Why I Use… Futurabond U

A truly universal dual-cured adhesive in convenient SingleDose packaging can be used for virtually all restorative procedures without a separate primer,If you’re juggling multiple adhesives in your dental practice, have you considered switching to one material that can do it all? With the flexibility to be used in countless clinical procedures, VOCO’s Futurabond U dual-curing universal adhesive may be the answer. Here, Dr. Paul Olenyn discusses why he relies on the material daily to satisfy virtually all of his restorative needs.,Dr. Paul OlenynA graduate of Georgetown University’s School of Dentistry, Dr. Olenyn practices general dentistry in Burke, VA. He is a Fellow in the International College of Dentists and the American College of Dentists and is very active in organized dentistry, especially with the Virginia Dental Association, where he volunteers annually for the Mission of Mercy and Give Kids a Smile programs. He served for many years on the MetLife Dental Advisory Council, volunteers at the Northern Virginia Dental Clinic, and was named a Top Dentist in Virginia Living magazine and the Washingtonian.,futurabond u single doseWhen I was first introduced to VOCO’s Futurabond U 6 years ago, I was immediately impressed with its versatility. Not only is it a reliable universal bonding agent, but it allows me to think and work outside the box. For example, I can use Futurabond U for direct composites, to treat hypersensitivity, or as a protective layer over glass ionomer cements—among other nontraditional indications. The fact that I can use a single adhesive for so many procedures, and with virtually no postoperative sensitivity, makes Futurabond U an excellent choice for all my restorative needs.,VOCO’s SingleDose Delivery System is extremely convenient and saves me time. The all-in-one dispensing method prevents solvent evaporation to ensure reliable bond strength every time I use it. Compared to a syringe, SingleDose reduces the risk of cross-contamination and decreases the need for storing multiple products, which helps reduce our inventory.,Futurabond U is indicated for self-, selective-, and total-etch techniques, and its dual-, self-, and light-cure properties enable it to be used with a variety of materials and for many types of procedures. Although I primarily use a selective-etch technique, I find that the self-cure mode is especially useful when I am unable to position the curing light over the preparation, particularly when bonding a post and core or doing a deeper Class V preparation.,Reinforced with nano particles for permanent bond strength, Futurabond U adheres to metal, zirconia, aluminum oxide, and silicate ceramic without the need for a separate primer. I feel very confident using the material in a variety of clinical scenarios, and since I started using Futurabond U several years ago, it has given me consistently excellent adhesion to any material to which I am bonding.,1. Outstanding versatility,2. Simple SingleDose delivery,3. High bond strength,4. Inventory reduction,5. Less patient discomfort,
