At its latest DS World in Las Vegas, Dentsply Sirona, together with Smile Train, kicked off the Smile Wall – a growing initiative in the lead-up to World Smile Day® that is aimed at raising global cleft awareness through ambassador stories, engagement initiatives, and lots of smiles.
Dentsply Sirona, the world’s largest diversified manufacturer of professional dental products and technologies, together with Smile Train, the world’s largest cleft-focused organization, geared up for World Smile Day® at the company’s clinical education flagship event in North America, DS World Las Vegas.
For two consecutive days, Smile Train’s booth at the DS World exhibit hall, set up to raise awareness about cleft lip and palate, welcomed hundreds of visitors. At the center of the booth was the Smile Wall, a special installation created in celebration of World Smile Day®. The installation, which invited attendees to share what makes them smile, highlighted the power of global collaboration in increasing access to oral health.
Cleft Ambassador Delivers Powerful Message at DS World
One of the most memorable moments at DS World came from Nasly Lopez, a 16-year-old Smile Train Ambassador from Colombia who has been on a cleft treatment journey for most of her life. Representing children around the world, Nasly shared her story and delivered a heartfelt message calling for continued support and innovation in cleft care—emphasizing both the transformative role of compassion and the impact of digital technology in changing lives.
Since the launch of the partnership in 2021, Dentsply Sirona has committed $5 million USD to Smile Train, supporting more than 5,500 cleft surgeries globally and completing 34 donations of equipment to 15 Smile Train centers around the world. The collaboration also includes the development of global digital cleft treatment standards, as well as clinical education resources that empower cleft care clinicians to deliver high-quality care in their communities.
USD 100K Donation in Support of Cleft Care
The long-standing partnership with Smile Train is a cornerstone of Dentsply Sirona’s global sustainability strategy, “BEYOND: Taking Action for a Brighter World,” which focuses through its healthy smiles pillar on increasing access to oral health globally and creating 25 million healthy smiles by the end of 2025 through education, sustainable treatment, and community engagement initiatives.
As part of this commitment, at DS World Las Vegas 2025, Dentsply Sirona announced a new $100,000 USD donation in support of Smile Train and children like Nasly Lopez. The contribution will help fund essential cleft surgeries for children born with cleft lip and/or palate—a condition that can severely affect a child’s ability to eat, breathe, speak, and hear.
When paired with ongoing care, surgery restores vital functions and helps empower children to thrive socially and emotionally. The transformation goes beyond the physical, helping children regain confidence, integrate into their communities, and overcome stigma.
Community Outreach Efforts Spotlighted at DS World
DS World honored those making a difference in the world, spotlighting multiple community engagement partners beyond Smile Train, including TeamSmile, Ben Massell Clinic, and Dental Lifeline Network. Attendees had the opportunity to meet representatives from these organizations at the Community Engagement booth on site. These organizations embody the heart of dentistry through service and impact, whether by empowering local providers to deliver life-changing cleft surgeries, connecting vulnerable adults with essential dental care, or bringing free care and education to underserved children.
