A 73-year-old man was arrested following a deadly shooting at the site of a former dentist clinic in southwest Atlanta. The incident happened around 3 p.m. on a recent Saturday when police received reports of gunfire near the closed dental office.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found a 37-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. Medical responders attempted to save the victim, but he was pronounced dead soon after. Authorities have not yet released the name of the deceased man.
Police identified the suspect as David Mays, who has since been charged with murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Mays was taken into custody and transported to Fulton County Jail.
Investigators are still working to gather more details about what led to the shooting. The former dentist’s office where the incident took place was not open at the time.
No information regarding the relationship between the suspect and the victim has been made public. Police have asked anyone with relevant information to assist in the investigation as it continues.
