POOJA SAROHA, DDS

Dr. Saroha graduated from Boston University Dental School and earned a master’s degree in dental public health from Kings College, London, UK. She has practiced in the Boston, MA, area for 15 years and currently practices at Woburn Family Dental in Woburn, MA. She is a member of the American Dental Association, Massachusetts Dental Society, and Middlesex District Dental Society. Dr. Saroha serves as a peer reviewer for Academy of General Dentistry manuscripts, is a member of Spear Education, and annually completes more CEs than required by her state. She is passionate about whole health, as well as preventive dentistry and the importance of early identification of risk factors. Clinical interests include crowns and bridges, implants, restoratives, and laser dentistry.

Sometimes, you don’t know you’re stuck in the “dinosaur age” until you come out on the other side. That was the case for Dr. Pooja Saroha, who recently invested in a TRIOS 5 scanner from 3Shape. Lightweight, hygienic, and built with an all-new ScanAssist engine, the TRIOS 5 already has made a profound impact on Dr. Saroha’s patient care. Here, she shares why she’ll never go back to those messy impression trays.

In my dental practice, we do a large volume of crown and bridge, and we’ve recently had an uptick in night guards due to an increase in bruxism. Up until a few months ago, I was using traditional impressions with trays for my indirect restorations. I now use 3Shape’s TRIOS 5, and the technology is amazing! I wish I had invested in this years ago because it’s made my workflow much more efficient, and it’s faster and easier for my patients, too.

 

Faster Turnaround Times

 

With TRIOS 5, my turnaround time is much shorter than it was with traditional impression trays. Instead of 2 weeks, it’s now just 3 days! Another benefit is my patients are no longer in temporaries for long periods of time. I’ve found that digital impressions with TRIOS 5 are more detailed and exact, so my crowns are coming back from the lab with much more accuracy. Now that we have TRIOS 5, we’re scanning hygiene patients for education, and we’ll soon be scanning all our patients for baselines.

My patients love TRIOS 5, especially those with gagging tendencies. It’s been a breeze to scan them, and it only takes a few minutes for each arch. In fact, impressions were always challenging for patients, and I’ve found that they no longer hesitate because it’s fast, easy, pain-free, and there’s no more gooey trays and mess.

 

User-Friendly Controls

 

My favorite feature is that TRIOS 5 is cordless. We have 6 operatories, so it’s easy to carry the scanner from room to room. The batteries stay charged a long time, and it’s small in the hand and lightweight. The step-by-step setup means it’s easy to use. You cannot miss anything because it’s so user-friendly.

 

TRIOS 5 has been so impactful for my practice. Just being able to get cases back to patients in a faster timeframe has been amazing. I would absolutely never go back to my previous impression method—that would be like going back to the dinosaur age!
