VideaHealth has announced the launch of the VideaHealth AI Leadership Council (ALC), a consortium of dental executives, clinicians, and innovators focused on supporting the responsible adoption and long-term development of ambient and applied artificial intelligence in dentistry.
The ALC brings together leaders from dental service organisations (DSOs), including Heartland Dental, Great Expressions Dental Centres, 42 North Dental, Gen4 Dental Partners, Riccobene Associates, and Cherry Tree Dental. Collectively, these organisations represent large provider networks and patient populations, offering the council with broad insight into how AI can be implemented across diverse practice models.
“AI will make its greatest impact in dentistry when leaders work together to guide its adoption,” said Florian Hillen, chief executive officer and founder of VideaHealth. “The ALC allows us to collaborate directly with those driving progress across the field to ensure AI’s evolution is both clinically sound and designed for long-term adoption and scale.”
Dr Timothy J Quirt DDS, MBA, senior vice-president of clinical operations at Heartland Dental, said he joined the ALC as a founding member because of its potential to influence the next phase of progress within the sector. “The opportunity to help shape its foundations by bringing together innovation, leadership and collaboration aligns closely with my interest in creating scalable impact,” he said.
Guiding dentistry’s next phrase
The ALC will serve as a strategic forum to help define best practice, standards and frameworks for the effective integration of AI across areas such as diagnostics, clinical workflows and patient communication. By combining clinical experience with VideaHealth’s technical expertise, the group aims to support innovation while maintaining a focus on quality and patient care.
“This is a pivotal period for dentistry, as financial pressures, changing patient expectations and workforce challenges increasingly require new approaches,” said Dr Jessica Buehler, president and chief clinical officer of Great Expressions Dental Centres. “I see this council as a chance to help shape the future of dentistry in a way that empowers providers, improves access, and enhances patient outcomes through the responsible and strategic use of AI.”
Developing a practical framework
The ALC’s first initiative will be “The Dental AI Playbook”, a comprehensive guide for navigating AI adoption across the dental industry. The playbook will address areas such as technology evaluation, governance structures, and the measurement of outcomes and return on investment. Contributions from council members will form the basis of practical recommendations for clinicians and practice operators.
“AI can support clearer diagnosis and more informed treatment decisions,” said Lorri Detrick, president and chief operating officer of Riccobene Associates Family Dentistry. “Its impact on dentistry is unfolding quickly, and this council will play an active role in guiding what comes next.”
A collaborative approach
The ALC includes representatives from national and regional DSOs as well as multi-practice groups, reflecting a range of perspectives across the dental sector. Its formation is intended to encourage collaboration and shared learning as AI technologies become more widely adopted.
“Dentistry is uniquely positioned to lead healthcare in demonstrating what safe, measurable, and meaningful AI adoption looks like,” Hillen added. “This council ensures that innovation happens with the industry, not just for it.”
