Align Technology has announced the commercial availability of the Invisalign System with mandibular advancement and occlusal blocks in Thailand. The system is intended to support the correction of class II skeletal and dental conditions by advancing the mandible while aligning the teeth. It is the company’s first clear aligner product to incorporate integrated solid occlusal blocks.
According to the company, the addition of occlusal blocks is designed to provide structural rigidity, facilitate vertical opening and support earlier mandibular advancement in selected cases, including deep bite presentations. The system expands Align’s class II treatment portfolio for growing patients and is aimed at treating class II malocclusions associated with mandibular retrusion — a condition estimated to account for 30–45% of malocclusions worldwide.
The appliance is intended for patients aged 10 to 16 who are in the late mixed or early permanent dentition stages. It is designed to make use of remaining growth potential to improve jaw alignment, dental relationships and functional outcomes. Reported features include:
• Combined treatment approach: The system is designed to address class II correction and tooth alignment within a single treatment process, reducing the need for multiple appliances
• Material and comfort considerations: The aligners use SmartTrack material, which the company states offers predictable performance and improved comfort
• Tooth movement predictability: The system incorporates SmartTrack material, SmartForce features and SmartStage technology, and allows attachments beneath the occlusal blocks where appropriate to guide tooth movement
Executives from Align Technology noted that the development forms part of the company’s ongoing efforts to broaden treatment options for growing patients. Several clinicians from New Zealand, Australia, Canada and other regions who have used the system reported favourable experiences, citing factors such as ease of use, patient comfort and uninterrupted progression through treatment. These views reflect their individual clinical perspectives.
The Invisalign System with mandibular advancement and occlusal blocks is now available to Invisalign-trained practitioners in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, India, Korea, China, Vietnam and the Philippines. It forms part of Align’s wider portfolio for growing patients, which also includes the Invisalign Palatal Expander System and Invisalign First.
